The singer revealed the happy news on The Ellen Show on November, 16.
Ricky Martin has announced that he and partner Jwan Yosef are engaged.
In a video from today’s Ellen DeGeneres Show, Martin gushes over his Kurdish conceptual artist fiance, who grew up in Sweden and is now based in London.
“He’s a conceptual artist and I’m a collector. I started looking for art and I saw his and I just went crazy for it. It was really original and so I contacted him,” he explains.
“And then you collected him,” Ellen jokes.
Martin then goes on to reveal that he was the one to pop the question, after knowing each other for a year. The pair first went public with their relationship in April this year.
“I was really nervous, but I got on me knees, and I took out the little letter box, I just had them in a little velvet pouch. and instead of asking ‘will you marry me,’ I said, ‘I got you something’.
“Bad, very bad,” he jokes to the audience.
“And then he was like, ‘yes’. I said, ‘I want to spend the rest of my life with you’. And he was like, ‘what is the question?’”
That’s when Martin finally asked: “Would you marry me?”
“Then 30 minutes after,” Martin adds, “I said, ‘wait, did you say yes?’.”
“Yes, he said yes.”
Martin added that Yosef gets on well with his twins, who were conceived via a surrogate, describing the relationship as “perfect”.
