The out and proud star has some words of comfort for dejected Americans.

Among the LGBT+ stars who were disappointed to see Trump become the next U.S. President was Empire actor and former Attitude cover star Jussie Smollett.

The actor, who publicly backed Hilary Clinton in a campaign ad with the rest of the Empire cast, took to Twitter to vent his frustration and encourage his 1.3 million followers to continue fighting for what they believe in.

Jussie“I’m pissed off, really kind of down,” he says in the video. “But we gotta give ourselves 24 hours then we gotta pick our asses up and continue to fight.

“Leaving the country or disengaging is not the answer,” he continues.

“I ain’t going nowhere – most of you all ain’t going nowhere. I’m not about to leave my house just because it still be dirty. It ain’t never been clean – ever.”

Calling for solidarity between minority groups, he said, “every single person of color, every woman, every single member of the LGBTQ community, every single disable person or immigrant or senior citizen, If we were all to join together we would create a majority that would be unstoppable. So that’s what we’re gonna do.”

“Let’s join together, let’s step up, let’s protect each other and make sure that we clean up this filthy mess.”
