New Instagram rules may be putting a damper on the proliferation of shirtless selfies on your feed.

Soon, the site will start classifying even slightly suggestive photos as “sensitive content,” blurring selected images and videos on your feed in much the same way Twitter does.

According to a post on Instagram’s blog:

Soon you may notice a screen over sensitive photos and videos when you scroll through your feed or visit a profile. While these posts don’t violate our guidelines, someone in the community has reported them and our review team has confirmed they are sensitive. This change means you are less likely to have surprising or unwanted experiences in the app. If you’d like to see a post that is covered with a screen, simply tap to reveal the photo or video.

Right now, it remains unclear whether users will be able to opt out having some content blurred, and what exactly will and won’t be considered “sensitive content” in the first place.

Troubling questions abound.

Will Instagram’s prude new rules turn Steve Grand’s account into one big blur?

Will 90% of Joe Jonas’ photographs be deemed “too sensitive” for the masses?

Will this footage of Pietro Boselli frolicking around with chickens be considered too risqué?
