National treasure Tom Hanks has not only expressed his interest in the upcoming gender-swapped remake of Splash – starring Channing Tatum – but he’s said he wants to return as Allen Bauer.
In the remake, Tatum will be playing the mermaid… Merman? Merperson who was originally played by Darryl Hannah. Playing Tom’s role from the original will be the exceedingly talented Jillian Bell.
Speaking to AP on the red carpet of his latest Dan Brown movie Inferno, Tom asked: “What’s that about?”
Smiling he goes to say: “No one asked me! Look, I think if they were really going to be bold, I would come back as Allen Bauer, and I would go off with Channing Tatum.
“That would be a bold movie. And I am suggesting it right now.”
