Hope you remember our story The First Pregnant Male. Today we are going to share with you the story about one trans man – Thomas Beatie, who gave birth to three children. So let’s know more about this brave guy.
Thomas Beatie will forever remain in history as the man who gave birth, and he did that not only once, not even twice, but whole three times. The three of his children are now healthy and growing normally. Thomas had to find an alternative way to become a father when he learnt that his wife was unable to get pregnant, he decided that he can do it instead of her.
Though Thomas was a trans man, who had a complete man look and muscled body after his transformation in 2002, he believed that medicine was developed enough to make his dream come true. Going through many procedures, his once lost abilities were ‘restored’ and in 2007 using artificial insemination he got pregnant. Managing to successfully give birth to his first child, he became the first man in world’s history to carry a baby and give birth to it. In the following years, he experienced another two pregnancies and had another two healthy children. Thomas’s boldness was admired a long time on many TV channels and newspapers, and thanks to his boldness he made his family a big and warm one. Not only did he give birth to his three children, but he did also give a great amount of confidence and strong belief to the queer communities around the globe.
As he was a stirring personality, through his pregnancies he kept on asking more and more men about their opinion regarding his situation, he wanted to know what people think about it and how they accept the whole picture. Surprisingly, most of the asked people proved that humanity has grown to another level today, they were accepting his idea with ease, believing that everyone has the right to become a parent and moreover – to feel that sacred emotion of carrying their own baby, regardless if they are men or women. Probably, all these very things, which had never been experienced by another man and the feedback Thomas kept getting through his pregnancies, inspired him, later on, to write and publish his book: Labor of Love: The Story of One Man’s Extraordinary Pregnancy and also create his own website: www.thomasbeatie.com.
I believe that what Thomas did is strong enough to show the world that transgender, gay and all the other queer people, who are still disliked and looked down, are much more than they are considered to be.
