Johnny Depp is a famous actor who got his popularity due to the fabulous films where he played the main roles. We should mention here such eccentric characters as the spooky Edward Scissorhands, the weird Willy Wonka and even charismatic Captain Jack Sparrow.
Exactly the role of such a colorful character as Captain Jack Sparrow in ‘Pirates of The Caribbean’ caused Johnny Depp to ask studio bosses: “Didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?”
Depp remembers that he was a bit afraid that he would be fired playing the role of a bit wacky pirate and as a result the studio bosses thought he was overplaying.
“It trickled back to me that [former Disney CEO] Michael Eisner went on some sort of bent about how ‘Goddammit, Johnny Depp’s ruining the film! What is that thing? It is drunk, is it gay?’” he said.
“What the f**k are you doing?” Michael asked Johnny. “When they asked if it was gay, I answered: ‘Didn’t you know all my characters are gay?’
“I really expected to be fired, but I wasn’t for some reason,” Depp said.
“They were actually gonna put subtitles under my character, they couldn’t understand Captain Jack.”
So the gay topic finally reached Depp in his real life. In his previous interviews the actor claimed that he is quite concerned about his daughter’s behavior who openly spoke about her sexuality.
“To be honest, I’m quite worried,” he said.
“I wasn’t expecting all this to happen to (my daughter) Lily-Rose, especially not at this age.”
Lily-Rose became ardent supporter of LGBT people in America, becoming a participant of a new campaign which aim is to promote acceptance of LGBT people in society.
