London’s Subway Is Going Gender-Neutral To Support LGBTQ Passengers
London's underground is going gender-neutral with greetings to passengers on announcements and trains being changed from "ladies and gentlemen" to "hello everyone." The revised phrasing will be applied to all new pre-recorded announcements made across the transport network.
Sian Berry, a member of the English Green Party, proposed the change at a meeting with the mayor in June. The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said at the time:
"I am aware that some customers may not relate to or feel comfortable...

Gay couple photo themselves across three decades to prove it’s not ‘just a phase’
“It’s just a phase.”
The number of times that young – and not so young – LGBT people have heard that comment, and felt invalidated, like the identity that they had discovered and nurtured wasn’t worth a damn.
At best, you can dismiss the comment in the same way the other person dismissed your true self, but at worst, it is utterly destructive.
And the most difficult aspect of being on the receiving end of a throwaway comment like this is that...
Student Asks Court To Change Her ‘F’ Grade To An ‘A’ After Refusing To...
Donna Kikkert, a 59-year old student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is attempting to sue her creative writing professor for giving her a failing grade in Dyjak’s poetry class, USA Today reports.
Kikkert, who is completing a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, claims that she received an F in the course for criticizing Professor Patricia Dyjak’s choice of including lesbian poetry in her literature selection instead of focusing on classic authors such as Edgar Allan Poe...
Did a Christian soccer player skip two matches to avoid wearing a Pride jersey?
U.S. Women’s soccer player Jaelene Hinkle has never been shy about her devout Christian faith, even if it meant ruffling feathers. But this week 24-year-old has mysteriously withdrew from the U.S. Women’s National Team, citing “personal reasons.”
And even though she has not confirmed why, speculation is running rampant in sports journalism as well as right-wing Christian media circles that she wants to avoid having to wear a rainbow-colored jersey with the word “Pride” in place of her name on...
Not alone: 49 beautiful ‘angels’ watched over Pulse early this morning
As family and friends of Pulse shooting victims and survivors of that deadly attack gathered to remember the 49 lives lost, they were not alone. A group of 49 people dressed as angels formed a protective circle around that private service, just as they had in the wake of the massacre at the Orlando LGBTQ night club.
It was the first in a series of services marking the one year anniversary of the deadliest terror attack on U.S. soil since...
Skittles celebrates Pride Month with a nod to the only rainbow that matters
This June, Skittles candies are losing their vibrant colors for a good cause — to celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month.
The colorful candy first gave up its rainbow in 2016, in honor of London Pride, where the company handed out the unique treats from it’s rainbow-less float.
The gesture goes to show that Skittles knows that we didn’t steal the rainbow from God or anyone else, it was ours all along.
“Only one rainbow matters this pride. Give the rainbow, taste the rainbow,”...
You can walk with pride in these cities with permanent rainbow crosswalks
Cities across the globe have added a touch of LGBTQ visibility and pride by painting rainbow crosswalks on their streets. They are often temporary, put down to coincide with Pride, before being painted over and returned to their original, bland look.
Some cities have decided to take a bigger stand in showing they stand with the LGBTQ community by making their pride crosswalks permanent.
As we recently reported, the city of Lethbridge, in Canada, is getting both a permanent transgender pride...
Police stop bombing in Berlin at LGBTQ rights rally
Police in Berlin, Germany thwarted an attempted bombing of the Russian Embassy during a pro-LGBTQ rights demonstration.
The rally took place on April 8, and was in response to the poor treatment of the LGBTQ community in Chechnya, as news has come out of prison camps where gay and bisexual men are held against their will, interrogated, and tortured.
A 24-year-old Moroccan man planned to mix in with the pro-LGBTQ rights demonstrators and set a bomb off in front of the...
Study: Married gay men are much happier than single ones
Could same-sex marriage be beneficial to your mental health?
That’s the takeaway from a new study from The University of Washington, part of the national investigation “Aging with Pride: National Health, Aging, Sexuality/Gender Study,” which is one of the first to examine same-sex marriage and how it affects mental health.
“There were big gaps for health and well-being between married gay couples and gay singles,” says lead author Jayn Goldsen, a research study supervisor at the University of Washington’s School of...
Twitter erupts after Trump announces erasure of LGBTQ people from 2020 Census
The Trump Administration’s attempt to completely erase the LGBTQ community rages on. First, the White House deleted the LGBT rights page from its official website. Then it axed the White House Office of AIDS Policy. Then it announced massive cuts to the HIV/AIDS research budget. Now, it wants to eliminate LGBTQ citizens from the 2020 census.
Every 10 years, the federal government conducts the U.S. Census to determine the number of people living in the country. They also record things...
Power Rangers Reboot Breaks Ground with the First Queer Big-Screen Superhero
“All kids have to own who they are and find their tribe.”
If you’re still worried about a ‘90s kid’s television franchise maintaining its relevance with a 2017 reboot, you must be thinking about something other than Power Rangers.
The film, which already looks to have special effects of any other superhero blockbuster, is going for a genuine high school feel with its protagonists, mainly Yellow Ranger Trini (Becky G), who will have a moment when she’s revealed to be part...

“I wrote this song because I wanted it to be about inclusion, about being together,” Timberlake said while accepting the ‘Song of the Year’ award for “Can’t Stop The Feeling.”
“I guess I want to take this opportunity and speak to young people right now ‘cause there’s a lot of you looking at me.”
“If you’re gay, or you’re lesbian, or you are trans, or maybe you’re...
