Johnson Nominated by Anti-LGBTQ Republican Citing ‘God’ and ‘Traditional American Values’
Mike Johnson, the Trump-backed, controversial Republican from Louisiana, secured his second term as Speaker of the House of Representatives on Friday afternoon. He was formally nominated by U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), a fellow far-right Christian conservative and the newly elected Chair of the House Republican Conference.
