LGBTQ Equality: He Wrote The Book On It

Kevin Naff's been the EIC of The Washington Blade since the original run of Will & Grace. He has been head honcho at the venerable, indispensable publication for many major events in LGBTQ history, not least of which the end of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the SCOTUS decision granting same-sex marriage nationwide. Now, he has written the book How We Won the War for LGBTQ Equality, and before you get too comfy, it's subtitled And How Our Enemies Could Take It All Away.

All.

Not just drag rights, not just trans rights, all LGBTQ rights. There is a path for them to do that, and there is a path for us to resist. I have yet to read Kevin's book, but I know his institution's work, and I have faith he will have valuable insights.

The book is out March 23.

In the meantime, check out Kevin's appearance on Rated LGBT Radio.

P.S. One way I can tell you they'll win is if we continue, as a community, to reject that we are a community. This includes gay men shrugging off trans people, it includes trans people calling people with questions transphobes (to be fair, some are, and some of those questions aren't fair questions!), it includes LGB and other separatism, and it for damn sure includes this revolting trend I've seen on social media of drag queens and femme-presenting gay men deciding they agree with the right that drag is too racy for kids, unwittingly helping to brand gay as inherently (1) sexual and (2) perverse. Choose a goddamn side already.
