It will be the first Summer Olympic Games to include rock climbing as an event.
Last week, Johnson joined USA Women’s World Cup winners Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris among others on the set of NBC’s Today Show, to celebrate the one...
Cardinals take step in the right direction by bringing back Pride Night
As we’ve mentioned a few times throughout this summer, 28 of 30 Major League Baseball teams are holding Pride events during the 2019 season. Most importantly, it shows the league is taking Pride beyond New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and other cities most commonly associated with LGBTQ community outreach.
It’s a sign of how much MLB teams and fans support LGBTQ people when Pride Nights become regularly scheduled in regions where such events would’ve been non-starters even just a few...
Woman shouts “shame on you” at Pride marchers in suspected hate crime
The video, which was recorded on Saturday 27 July during the Waltham Forest Pride parade in Walthamstow, shows a woman shouting “shame on you” at a Pride-goer wrapped in a rainbow flag.
“God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve,” she can be heard shouting in the video, as a steward attempted to separate them. “Shame on you, shame on all of you. Shame on you, you despicable people. Shame on you, you shameless people.”
Despite the abuse, the victim...
Gay esports caster James O’Leary sees LGBTQ support in esports blossoming
If you’re a fan of European esports then you’re likely familiar with James “Stress” O’Leary.
The former League of Legends European Championship (LEC) caster was the voice of Europe’s top League of Legends organization before leaving the booth for a position with LEC participant Splyce.
But his enthusiastic calls and infectious personality masked his struggle to be out publicly to his audience. O’Leary is gay, and esports has a history of being less than accepting of LGBTQ communities.
In recent...
Michigan’s governor prepared to veto bill banning the flying of rainbow flags on government...
Representative Lynn Afendoulis has announced her intentions to introduce a bill that would mean only the American and the state flag can be flown outside governmental buildings in Michigan.
Her bill is coming after the state’s governor, Gretchen Whitmer, flew the rainbow flag outside of the Romney Office Building for a day during Pride Month.
Afendoulis said it was “inappropriate to promote social policy, even in the form of a flag, on state office buildings.
“We shouldn’t be playing identity politics with...
Drag Race star BenDeLaCreme on the next era of her terminally delightful character
Remember last year when BenDeLaCreme eliminated herself on the third season of Drag Race All Stars and made herstory as the only contestant to do so on the main stage? Yeah, it was a gag, but… we’re not here to talk about that.
This year, the terminally delightful two-time Snatch Game winner launched her fourth critically-acclaimed solo show, Ready to be Committed, which follows her character as she embraces her inner bridezilla (sorta) for her upcoming nuptials.
“The fight for marriage...

Grace Martine Tandon is known as her stage name Daya. The singer is from Pennsylvania and grew up in the public eye thanks to some major pop hits including “Hide Away” and “Sit Still, Look Pretty.” Her song “Don’t Let Me Down” teamed her up with musicians The Chainsmokers’ and led her to the top 10.

First pitch honor on Pride Night at ballpark goes to… Sean Spicer?
The Pawtucket Red Sox are taking some heat on social media after inviting former White House press secretary Sean Spicer to toss the first pitch Friday night, the very evening the Rhode Island minor league team celebrated “Pride Night at the Ballpark.”
Reports by the Associated Press and the Boston Globe noted Spicer is a Rhode Island native who joined a disabled veteran, Carlos Lopes, in throwing out the ceremonial pitch.
Longreads sports columnist Britni de la Cretaz tweeted...
Pro Wrestlers Kiera Hogan and Diamante announce their relationship
Pro wrestling’s latest LGBTQ power couple revealed themselves Saturday when Impact Wrestling competitor Kiera Hogan and her former Impact co-worker, Diamante, went public with their relationship in a collection of heartwarming social media posts.
A beautifully worded message of love accompanied the pictures of the adorable couple.
“When I’m with you, I act different. In a good way. I smile more and I laugh more. I don’t have to pretend everything is ok when it’s really not. With you, I can...
A minor league baseball team celebrated their Pride Night with free Chick-fil-A sandwiches
A minor league baseball team ran a promotion that involved Chick-fil-A on their Pride Night.
The Pawtucket Red Sox held a Pride Night last Friday to celebrate their LGBTQ fans.
But apparently they didn’t see any contradiction between that and holding a promotion for Chick-fil-A, the fast food chain that has donated millions over the years to anti-LGBTQ organizations.
The promotion was that if someone caught a foul ball during the game, then everyone in the stadium would get a coupon for...
WNBA continues to lead the way for other leagues in LGBTQ inclusion
As the vast majority of MLB, NBA, MLS, and NHL teams demonstrate on a yearly basis, Pride Nights are now a regular and accepted part of the sports calendar. Even NFL teams, which historically have never dedicated a specific game to Pride, have made extraordinary efforts to show support for their LGBTQ fans. Across sports, the vast majority of major league teams send a contingent to march in their home cities’ Pride Parades and several active players choose to...
Call Her Ms. Cox; New York City’s Jackie Cox Talks Community, Cabaret & Why...
Jackie Cox is part of a group of queens in New York City who are bringing drag back to its roots. From old school glamour to Broadway sensibilities, Cox came out of the gate in 2010 and has staked her claim in New York City drag circles as a professional, an artist, and someone who has never met a retro tinged look that she could not turn! I caught up with Jackie Cox as she was still flying high...
‘LGBT-FREE ZONE’ Set To Be Distributed To Businesses In Poland
A Polish news magazine has announced plans to distribute stickers proclaiming an “LGBT-free zone” to its readers, reports CNN.
The far-right weekly publication Gazeta Polska said it intends to include the stickers, which feature an image of a black cross over a Pride flag alongside the inflammatory slogan, in its next issue.
The stickers have sparked international outrage and was criticized by the US Ambassador to Poland.
“I am disappointed and concerned that some groups use stickers to promote hatred and intolerance,”...
