Rob Schneider has defended Rebel Wilson's comments on "gay actors."During an appearance on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, the Australian actor described as "total nonsense" the idea that "only straight actors can play straight roles and gay actors can play gay roles." "I think you should be able to play any role that you want," Wilson told host Lauren Laverne.

The Pitch Perfect star came out publicly in 2022 and shares a one-year-old daughter with fiancée Ramona Agruma."I always think, in comedy, your job is to always flirt with that line of what's acceptable," the 44-year-old added. "Sometimes you do step over it but, at the end of the day, you are trying to entertain people."The Hustle star's comments sparked mixed reactions online.

Some agreed with Wilson's stance, with one social media user writing: "It's called 'acting.' The whole point is portraying something you're not."However, others strongly disagreed, with one claiming that heterosexual actors playing gay characters is "cringe/corny."One famous face to have Wilson's back is comedian Rob Schneider.
