Report: LGBTQ Voters Shifted Away from Trump in 2024 Election
While he ran up greater margins of victory or increased his share of almost every demographic group, President-elect Donald Trump actually bled support among members of the LGBTQ community in this year’s election.According to an NBC News exit poll, 86% of lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender voters cast their ballots for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, a 22-point increase over 2020, when Biden won 64% of the LGBTQ vote.Only 12% of LGBTQ voters cast ballots for Trump, a 15-point decline from four years ago, reports The Hill. The GOP presidential ticket captured fewer than 20% of LGBTQ male voters and just 8% of LGBTQ female voters. The results align with an earlier poll by the Human Rights Campaign, in which LGBTQ voters favored Harris over Trump by a 74% to 7.5% spread.
Beloved public health, LGBTQ rights advocate Cornelius Baker dies
Antonio Cornelius Baker, whose extensive career in public health included service as special adviser to the Office of AIDS Research at the National Institutes of Health and as executive director of D.C.’s Whitman-Walker Health and the National Association of People With AIDS, died unexpectedly at his home of natural causes on Nov. 9, according to friends and former colleagues.
Celebrity ASCENT transatlantic cruise continues
Day two continued in a relaxed way after I got back from my walk around Alicante. I headed to a light lunch at Café Baccio. Then back to the cabin to shower, and up to the retreat lounge for a meet and greet with the ship’s officers. The captain was a no-show but Christophe, the great Hotel Director, was there. I had met him last year on the BEYOND, and it was good to see him again. Then off to the LGBTQ happy hour in the Eden lounge. It was fun to see old friends from the UK there, and meet new ones. The happy hour will take place every evening and is listed in the ship’s daily calendar.
The gay subtext in Dwayne Johnson’s latest photoshoot will have you hankering for more
Hmmm, that can’t be right, can it?Anyway! The wrestler-turned-blockbuster superstar formerly known as The Rock has been named GQ‘s “entertainer of the year,” gracing the cover of this month’s magazine in a classic white tee and blue jeans look. And while the vibe is certainly giving “All-American beefcake,” the gays have noticed something a little… queer about the photoshoot: Say, is that a beige handkerchief hanging out of your back pocket, Mr. The Rock?Subscribe to our newsletter for a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.The rock flagging beige right pocket….I know what you are and the answer is yes! pic.twitter.com/sls5Jum07M“The Rock flagging beige right pocket,” notes journalist Myles Tanzer on X.
Huh??? This small rural city just elected its first out gay mayor AND voted to send Trump back to the WH
A post shared by Kent Bombard (@kabombard)A small city in rural Minnesota made history in last week’s election, but it also has many people scratching their heads.Pine City is located in east central part of the state, about an hour outside of the Twin Cities. The quiet rural community, which is home roughly 3,700 people, voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump, with 62% casting their ballots for the 78-year-old, 34-time convicted felon. But when it came to picking local leadership, voters swung in the complete opposite direction and elected the city’s first out gay mayor.Stay woke with our briefing while staying informed on all things LGBTQ+ entertainment, life, and more!Kent Bombard, who was initially appointed to the position back in July when the previous mayor stepped down, was formally elected after receiving nearly 50 percent of the vote and beating out not one, not two, but three different challengers.“This has been my hometown my entire life, so it’s awesome to be able to feel like I can still fit in,” he told local media after his victory, “and I can still belong and that I’m not a weird outlier in my hometown or in my community.”Bombard lives with his husband Aaron and runs a tech consulting company.
