Director Pedro Almodóvar has revealed when his queer western with Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke will premiere. Back in June, the acclaimed director announced that he was working on a 30-minute short film titled Strang Way of Life.
Described as his “answer to Brokeback Mountain,” the director also revealed that Pascal would be playing a gunslinger named Silva, with Hawke stepping into the role of a Sherrif named Jake. “One of them travels through the desert to find the other.
There will be a showdown between them, but really the story is very intimate,” Almodóvar explained to Indie Wire at the time.
When asked if the two characters will share a romantic relationship, the acclaimed director stated: “You can guess. I mean, masculinity is one of the subjects of the movie.” Over the last few months, Almodóvar has remained relatively silent regarding the film’s subject matter and its premiere date, until now.
