Kylie Minogue and Prince finally came to fruition by mysteriously materializing over the weekend more than 32 years after the duo joined forces on the lost track.Kylie has discussed he storied single entitled “Babydoll” in the past, which featured lyrics written by the pop diva and music by the Purple Rain icon. I think he was naturally a bit of a wind up and he said ‘Where are your lyrics?’ and I was like ‘Um…'”, Kylie told BBC Music last year.After jotting down some lyrics for “Babydoll” and sending it to Prince, the “When Doves Cry” singer got to work and produced a demo with music and his voice singing the track.A few days later, Prince had his driver send over a cassette of the track to Kylie’s home in London. The “Padam Padam” songstress stood dumbfounded having received a version of the song by her idol.

“It was a moment,” is how she described it.Kylie has since disclosed that her record label was not interested in having Prince produce the track and so she never got to record the single with him.Strangely, the tape went missing and so it seemed the song would never see the light of day following Prince’s passing in 2016.But then in 2022, “Babydoll” was rumored to be included in a massive archival compilation by the Prince Estate.
