LISTEN: Kylie Minogue’s long-lost collab with Prince finally surfaces 32 years later

Kylie Minogue and Prince finally came to fruition by mysteriously materializing over the weekend more than 32 years after the duo joined forces on the lost track.Kylie has discussed he storied single entitled “Babydoll” in the past, which featured lyrics written by the pop diva and music by the Purple Rain icon. I think he was naturally a bit of a wind up and he said ‘Where are your lyrics?’ and I was like ‘Um…'”, Kylie told BBC Music last year.After jotting down some lyrics for “Babydoll” and sending it to Prince, the “When Doves Cry” singer got to work and produced a demo with music and his voice singing the track.A few days later, Prince had his driver send over a cassette of the track to Kylie’s home in London. The “Padam Padam” songstress stood dumbfounded having received a version of the song by her idol.

“It was a moment,” is how she described it.Kylie has since disclosed that her record label was not interested in having Prince produce the track and so she never got to record the single with him.Strangely, the tape went missing and so it seemed the song would never see the light of day following Prince’s passing in 2016.But then in 2022, “Babydoll” was rumored to be included in a massive archival compilation by the Prince Estate. That release would later be refined into the 2023 super deluxe version of Prince’s 1991 album Diamonds and Pearls, so all other songs, including “Babydoll”, were

National Defense Authorization Act into law, including a provision that strips away health care coverage from transgender minors who are children or dependents of military personnel.The $895 billion bill, which focuses on military funding, as well as salary, housing, and child care services for military personnel, was targeted by Republicans, who submitted amendments that attacked transgender health care.Under the Republican-introduced provision, TRICARE, the health insurance plan for military service members, is banned from covering any medical treatment for “gender dysphoria that could result in sterilization” for minor dependents of military members.While hormone therapy and gender confirmation surgeries would no longer be covered by TRICARE, it remains unclear whether puberty blockers would also be banned, though the intent of the provision is to limit coverage for any transition-related treatment for gender dysphoria.The House of Representatives voted 281-140 to pass the bill, with 81 Democrats voting for passage. Sixteen Republicans voted against the bill, but not because of the transgender health restrictions.Senate Democrats attacked the provision, but failed to get it removed from the bill, which ultimately passed by a vote of 85-14.Despite facing pressure from LGBTQ advocacy groups, Biden signed the bill into law, unwilling to give Republicans a line of attack against Democrats that might brand them as insufficiently supportive of the military.The bill, with the ban on transition-related care intact, is the first piece of anti-LGBTQ legislation to pass both chambers of Congress since the now-defunct “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was first introduced in 1993.
