When Barrie Drewitt and his partner Tony were named as parents on their twins' birth certificates, they made history as the first same-sex couple to appear on the official documents.
According to The Sun, the pair had taken on Saffron and her brother Aspen after using an egg donor and a surrogate in California in 1999 and made headlines as the UK's first gay dads.
Barrie is the biological father of one child, while Tony is the biological father of the other. After the twins were born, the embryo used to create Aspen, which had been split in two in the lab, was implanted into another surrogate, Donna.
She then gave birth to Orlando, who is five years younger than Aspen, but is technically his identical twin. For more of the news you care
