Beyond Ed Buck would begin streaming on Thursday, February 24.The documentary explores the murders of Gemmel Moore in 2017 and Timothy Dean in 2019 at the hands of Democratic political donor Ed Buck.

Last July, Buck was found guilty of giving the men fatal doses of methamphetamine, among other charges.Beyond Ed Buck examines the “internalized homophobia, the psychological root of predatory behaviors, and to provide a deeper exploration of challenges faced by the Black and Brown LGBTQ+ community,” according to a press release. It also analyzes the ways in which systemic social and economic inequalities have forced vulnerable groups like LGBTQ+ people into being the victims of predators. The film is co-executive produced by Jayce Baron and Pose star Hailie Sahar.Sponsored by Gilead Sciences, Beyond Ed Buck features interviews with several notable figures and industry professionals including Sahar, Raniyah Copeland (former President and CEO of Black Aids Institute), Dr.

Gregory Canillas (LGBTQ+ psychologist), George M. Johnson (award-winning author), Shar Jossell (journalist & media personality) and others.During last year’s trial, prosecutors had tens of thousands of texts, voice mails, and videos that laid out Buck's rampant drug use and his fetish for injecting Black men with hard drugs and then having sex with them, often when they were too high to consent.

Some of Buck's victims who survived — several of whom were homeless and just looking for a place to sleep for the night — wept on the witness stand and told the jury how Buck would also inject them without their approval, including when they were already unconscious.

author JK Rowling, remains steadfast in her opposition. She has cited what she perceives as a negative impact on single-sex spaces, and by mentioning her fears for the most vulnerable – alluding to survivors of abuse – she is suggesting that places like refuges could be under threat. With the UK survivor sector being drained of resources by over a decade of austerity measures, I want to air my real fears around disinformation that can further spur on the culture war gripping the UK, and worsen the hostile environment it enforces on trans people.Firstly, I need to state some facts.
