La Leyenda Negra.The film, which premiered at this year's Sundance festival and later screened at Outfest, is a moving coming-of-age story that follows Aleteia (Monica Betancourt) as she transfers to a new high school in Compton, Calif.Aleteia, a Latinx teenager, is about to become undocumented.
Her struggle to stay in America combines with her transition to a new school and her potential love interest in a popular classmate, Rosarito (Kailei Lopez).Penned and directed by Patirica Vidal Delgado, La Leyenda Negra cast Compton High School students in several roles.
