The San Francisco Bay Times is reporting that Phyllis Lyon (right), a pioneering gay rights activist who, with her late partner Del Martin signed on to an important civil rights law suit in California and were issued a marriage license in San Francisco by then-mayor (now governor) Gavin Newsome, has died.
