Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts announced her 2023 plans to marry her longtime girlfriend, Amber Laign. The openly gay journalist announced the exciting news while interviewing motivational speaker Gabby Bernstein on 2 January.
During their sit down, the best-selling author asked Roberts what she was saying “yes” to in 2023 – which resulted in a hesitant response from the co-anchor. “I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet.
Okay, I’m saying yes to marriage. We’re getting married this year,” she revealed. “It’s something we’ve talked about, but we had put it off because she became ill, but I’m saying yes to that and the next chapter.” After Bernstein encouraged Roberts to meditate on her wedding day by making a vision board, the longstanding broadcaster clarified that she would be “meditating on the marriage, not the wedding.” Shortly after uploading the interview to her Instagram, Roberts’ followers took to the comment section with congratulatory messages.
One person wrote: “I love this! I also loved the Robin called out meditating on the actual [marriage], which is way more important than the wedding day!” Another person commented: “This made me cry with happiness to hear this news!
