As gay men, we’ve been through a lot. For so many years we were deep in the closet, fearful of being arrested, and threatened with pseudo-medical cures.
Then came the Stonewall uprising, the declassification of homosexuality as a psychiatric disorder, and the defeat of sodomy laws.
And finally, the legalization of gay marriage. Now—at least in some parts of the world — we’re free to live our lives exactly like everyone else.
No one gets to tell us how to live, whom to love, or what we can or can’t do in the bedroom. We alone call the shots. Then again, maybe we’re not as free as we think.
