Depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues increase threefold among transgender children as young as nine, a new study found.Dr Ken Pang, who runs a paediatric practice that focuses on the care of transgender children and adolescents, is one of the authors of the study. He said that the reasons for this could range from gender dissatisfaction, the stress of experiencing stigma, and the children experiencing other forms of discrimination like transphobia. The researchers also found that transgender children are almost six times as likely to feel suicidal than cisgender children.

Nancy, known as The Texas Scarlett Cowgirl, has been active and involved in the LGBTQ community as an ally and volunteer since the late 1980s and has been especially active in the Imperial Court and in TGRA. And if you want to honor her majesty with a gift, her favorite flowers are snow fire roses and Gerber daisies; she likes to drink wine and margaritas, and her favorite shots are cactus juice and Josh’s raspberry lemon drop. It’s gonna be a royal good time.

Texas embarrassment Ted Cruz said something shockingly reasonable this week — or, at the very least, a spokesperson of his did.The Cruz camp recently voiced the senator’s apparent support for repealing the archaic, still-on-the-books sodomy ban in Texas.“Consenting adults should be able to do what they wish in their private sexual activity, and government has no business in their bedrooms,” the spokesperson told The Dallas Morning News.This law and those like it around the country were all rendered unenforceable by the Supreme Court in its Lawrence v. Texas ruling in 2003, but have still remained dormant in their state’s crime codes.Related: Ted Cruz says Supreme Court “clearly wrong” on same-sex marriage rulingTo be clear, the senator won’t be winning any GLAAD awards any time soon; he’s openly called the legalization of gay marriage “clearly wrong,” mocked personal pronouns, objected to trans athletes and trans youth, and racked up a laundry list of other anti-queer infractions.However, in this one specific instance, he somehow cleared the unspeakably low bar that some of his conservative peers have run headfirst into.For instance, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently made it clear that, given the chance, he would be completely “willing and able” to enforce sodomy laws in the state once again.The repeal of currently inactive sodomy laws is especially prescient in the aftermath of the SCOTUS ruling on Roe v.

Pride Month, the Crown Estate commissioned 100 Pride flags to hang above Regent Street for the first time.But the flag on show is not the typical rainbow flag you probably know.This version is the intersex-inclusive Pride flag and was designed by Valentino Vecchiette in 2021.Vecchiette, who is the founder of Intersex Equality Rights UK added the purple circle on yellow background to incorporate the voices of intersex people.Intersex is a broad term for people born with sex characteristics that are not exclusively associated with a singular binary definition of male or female. These sexual characteristics can be internal, such as sexual organs or chromosomes, or they can be external signifiers, including body hair and breast growth.

Good morning. It’s Monday. We’ll look at the sense of urgency that the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling added to the annual gay pride parade.

The festivities began on Sunday with a familiar feel: Revelers adorned in a palette of bright colors, waving rainbow flags and handmade signs, tossing confetti into the air as the roar of screams and bikers revving their motorcycle engines signaled the start of the annual New York City Pride March in Manhattan. But there was no mistaking that this year’s event, for all its joyous celebrations, had taken on sudden urgency and heightened significance just two days after the United States Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to abortion and signaled that the court could reconsider other liberties, including the 2015 decision that allowed same-sex marriage.

A new analysis has found that in areas with high Republican support—particularly those that have supported the current wave of anti-trans laws—the search volume for transgender porn is also exceptionally high.The analysis comes from Lawsuit.org, who researched Google search trend data between June 1 to 19, 2022, segmented the search volume results by metro area, and compared this to voting patterns during the 2020 election and public opinion polls on LGBTQ+ rights.According to Ahrefs.com, there are 4.7 million searches for trans-related porn each month. Lawsuit.org found that the top twenty states in the nation with the highest volume of searches for trans porn were all (except 5) red states in 2020.

Britain’s first transgender parents introduced their second daughter to the world on Lorraine on Thursday 24 June, praising “what people can achieve when they're just given love and support”. Jake, 42, and Hannah Graf, 34, spoke to TV host Lorraine Kelly with their newborn baby Teddy, who was born via surrogate and delivered by emergency C-section.The couple are already parents to a two year old daughter named Millie Winter Grad, born in April 2020, who is believed to be the first baby born in the UK to transgender parents by surrogate.

A second bill relating to transgender issues now awaits Governor Gavin Newsom's signature. It would add California to the list of states that annually proclaim November 20 as Transgender Day of Remembrance.Assembly Bill 1741, introduced by gay Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Campbell), chair of the Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, would require the governor to officially recognize the date each year as a day of special remembrance in the Golden State. The event, started in 1998 by Bay Area Reporter Transmissions columnist Gwenn Smith, commemorates those transgender people lost to violence in a given year.One of the first states in the country to make the day an official yearly observance was Virginia.

Its nightclubs, bars, beaches, and premier Pride parade attracts millions of LGBTQ+ tourists from across the world. The National Audubon Society has partnered with drag artist Pattie Gonia to invite the LGBTQIA community outdoors this Pride Month and to ensure that they have a safe and welcoming experience while there. As part of the collaboration the society has released the first two of four videos celebrating Pride in the outdoors.From hiking in platform boots to ice skating in a famous dress made from recovered pieces of discarded trash, Gonia is the creation of avid hiker and backpacker Wyn Wiley, who said the character was born spontaneously on a hike several years ago, according to a news release.

The world governing body for competitive swimming, FINA, has banned most trans female athletes from participating in elite levels of competition. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, the organization announced June 19 that it would institute the new policy the following day, June 20.

That appeal to the public gained traction after the 9/11 terrorist attacks and, today, remains relevant as the LGBTQ community prepares to celebrate the first in-person San Francisco Pride events since 2019. The reason, of course, is the uptick in some strange and frightening events over the past several weeks, both locally and across the country.

The NSW Government will provide $2.3 million to support trans and gender-diverse communities as part of the 2022-23 NSW Budget.According to the NSW Health Ministry, the $2.3 million includes $1.3 million for ACON’s new Trans Mental Health and Wellbeing service, which will provide trans women, trans men and non-binary people with up to 12 counselling sessions, free of charge. $725,400 will go to expand youth counselling service, Twenty10’s counselling and support programs for trans and gender-diverse youth and their carers, and $300,000 will go to Equality Australia in order to develop leadership in trans and gender-diverse communities.“This funding boost will enable ACON, Equality Australia and Twenty10 to respond to the needs of the trans and gender diverse community and ensure access to safe, inclusive and responsive services.”Independent Member for Sydney Alex Greenwich welcomed the initiative saying, “The NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy identified significant poor health and mental health across all LGBTIQ+ communities as a result of stigma, discrimination and social isolation.“Outcomes for trans and gender diverse people were found to be the worst with shocking rates of attempted self-harm and suicide, with the strategy identifying this cohort for priority action.“I strongly welcome the NSW Government’s support for our state’s trans and gender diverse communities through the funding of key and targeted services to support and promote their health and well-being.”ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill noted that the funding “would help ACON establish a tailored service that will deliver safe, inclusive, and affirming counselling and mental health peer support services to trans people (binary and non-binary).”In addition to health
