transgender daughter has petitioned to change her name to fit her gender identity.In the request, she also wrote that she wanted the name change because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” Reuters reports.The request was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica back in April.

Only recently has it made the news, with several media reports about the request being published.The petition, reported first by TMZ, looks to legally change her gender to female as well as her name on a new birth certificate.Her mother is author Justine Musk.

Justine Musk and Elon Musk divorced in 2008, and they share five children.Responding to a request for comment, Elon Musk told the Daily Beast, “She does not want to be a public figure.

I think it is important to defend her right to privacy. Please don’t out someone against their will — it’s not right.”The Beast says it sought comment before TMZ reported the petition.Elon Musk came out in support of the Republican Party in May, a month after his daughter filed the request.
