Humza Yousaf is suing a nursery he accuses of discriminating against his two-year-old daughter. Yousaf and his wife Nadia are demanding the nursery apologises and pays damages to charity over claims it refused their daughter Amal a place on racial and religious grounds.
Little Scholars Day Nursery in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, strongly denies the allegations. The legal action follows a joint investigation by Nadia and the Daily Record in which the nursery said it had no spaces for three applicants who had Muslim-sounding names. However, responding to fake inquiries from three mothers with non-ethnic names, the Dundee nursery said spaces were available.Yesterday, the Yousafs said they had resorted to taking legal action against Little Scholars.
