Ahead of their highly anticipated Holiday Show, Drag Race legends Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme have released a stunning festive ballad.
The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show will see the queens combine their signature comedy with a number of brand new songs – as well as the annual favourites fans love.
It was written solely by Jinkx and DeLa, with this year marking the duo’s fourth self-written holiday tour which will see them visit the UK, US and Canada.
Their new single, Looking at the Lights, made its debut during their shows last year and was composed by Major Scales – with Jinkx serving as the primary performer. “When DeLa and I first heard the composition by Major, we had mutual goosebumps,” the Queen of All Queens said of the track. “It’s become one of my absolute favourite songs to perform, and even more special knowing how audiences connect with it. “I’m excited for fans who got to see the show last year to add this studio recording to their holiday playlists.” DeLa, who wrote the song, said Looking at the Lights is “a true holiday song about friendship and community”. “I wrote it as a way to process all my feelings of trauma, grief and anxiety in the pandemic,” she explained. “When we were working on the show last year, it had all the campiness, jokes and parodies our audiences love but it was still missing something that truly acknowledged what we had all gone through. “This song became the climax of the show, and hearing Jinkx sing it for the first time absolutely floored me. “As someone who’s always struggled with the holidays, this is more than just a song about pandemic loneliness.
