It's hard to find really shocking snubs. Delroy Lindo, Tom Hanks, Ellen Burstyn and Regina King all had reason to hope, but none were shoo-ins.
Maybe the most violent exclusion is Dick Johnson Is Dead in the documentary category. Easily one of the best docs of this or any year (I think My Octopus Teacher is going to win, though), it becomes yet another immensely popular documentary shunned in that notorious category.
