It has at least caused a bit of good news for gay and bisexual men in the USA. With the levels of blood donations falling, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has now reduced the recommended deferral period for male blood donors.
Until the decision on Thursday April 2, the recommended deferral period for male donors who have had sex with another man was one year.
