Fire Island finally hit Hulu last week after much anticipation.Inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, the film follows a group of gay friends who gather for what could be their last annual week of love and laughter together on the titular isle.

Fire Island features the likes of queer actors Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, and Margaret Cho, and is being hailed for centering queer Asian individuals. In the featurette below, some of the cast and director Andrew Ahn chat about the film's location and what Fire Island means to the queer community. "There was a time when gay men weren't allowed to dance together.

It was illegal for bars to serve us. And so this became a real refuge for people who just wanted to escape and feel free," Booster says in the video.Yang adds that Fire Island, "is this beautiful tapestry of all these things people seek out."Fire Island is now streaming on Hulu..
