UPDATED: 1 dead following shooting in Oak Lawn

UPDATE AT 1:20 P.M.: A resident in the area where this shooting occurred has said the shooting was a suicide, possibly following a domestic dispute.

UPDATE: Info from Dallas PD’s Public Information Office at 11:08 a.m.: “On February 4, 2025, at about 8 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call regarding gunfire in the 3300 block of Throckmorton Street. The preliminary investigation determined there was no evidence of a shooting, and no injuries were reported. This investigation is documented under incident number 25-0206028.”

ORIGINAL POST: One person is dead following a shooting in Oak Lawn, according to news reports from WFAA Channel 8.

A source tells Dallas Voice that just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night, Feb. 4, they were walking their dogs outside their office in the area near the intersection of Rawlins and Reagan streets when they heard two gun shots in rapid succession. They said they quickly bundled up the dogs and got into the car to leave, and, as they were pulling out of the office driveway, they heard two more shots.

The source said as they were leaving the area they saw a large number of police cars on North Hall Street between Throckmorton and Knight. Then as they were arriving at their office this morning (Wednesday, Feb. 5), they saw a car on Rawlins Street, between Throckmorton and Knight, sitting with all its doors open, surrounded by crime scene tape.

According to WFAA reports, a DPD press release indicates officers responded to a shooting around 6:50 a.m. today in the 3900 block of Rawlins Street, and investigators found that one person had been shot. That individual later died, the release states.

Dallas Voice has contacted the Dallas Police Department’s public information office and is waiting for further details.
