Brandi Carlile paid tribute to John Prine when the singer-songwriter of tunes from the American songbook including "Angel From Montgomery" and "Hello in There" became one of the first celebrities to succumb to COVID-19.Nearly a year later, Carlile not only took home a fourth Grammy (after winning three in 2019) for Best Country Song with "Crowded Table," she honored Prine on the Grammys' stage Sunday to perform his posthumous Grammy-winning song "I Remember Everything." Known for his gentle and evocative lyrics and songs that have been interpreted by countless artists including Carlile, Joan Baez, and Bette Midler, Prine's "I Remember Everything" won two Grammys for American Roots Song and American Roots Performance on Sunday.
