The annual event, marking life-saving acts of heroism and charity fundraising, always draws some of the best from the UK's telly as they celebrate members of the public and their achievements.

Carol Vorderman, who has been a long-time host of the event, made a statement in a bold red dress as she made her way onto the carpet.

Holly Willoughby looked every inch an English Rose with a rose-coloured and inspired princess gown which floated as she moved.
