Halle Maria Berry (born Maria Halle Berry; August 14, 1966) is an American actress. Berry won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the romantic drama film Monster's Ball (2001), becoming the only woman of African American descent and the only woman of color to have won the award.
Halle Berry has issued an apology after facing a myriad of criticizing remarks online over an acting role. The actress, 53, sparked fury on Friday when she announced during an Instagram Live video with hairstylist Christin Brown that she was considering playing a trans character. "Over the weekend I had the opportunity to discuss my consideration of an upcoming role as a transgender man, and I'd like to apologize for those remarks.
As a cisgender woman, I now understand that I should not have considered this role, and that the transgender community should undeniably have the opportunity to tell their own stories," she wrote.
