Hollyoaks star Annie Wallace has opened up about the struggles many of the LGBTQ+ community faced while the country was in lockdown.
Annie shot to fame in 2015 when she joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Sally St. Claire — a character she’s played ever since.The 56 year old made history by doing so as she became the first transgender person to portray a regular transgender character in British soap opera.
While the pandemic has been a difficult time for everyone, Annie opened up some of the hardships that young trans people in particular faced.
Speaking to OK! Online, Annie said: "The LGBTQ+ community were horribly isolated during the lockdown of 2020, and also into 2021." “Some young people had to live with disapproving parents, whereas they’d feel safer at college, but they had to go home.
