Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian pushed back against a “completely false” claim President Donald Trump made shortly before his arrival in Kenosha on Tuesday, a city still reeling from a police shooting that last week left a Black man paralyzed and led to two fatal shootings in which an armed white teen has been charged.
Trump falsely told reporters at Joint Base Andrews before stepping aboard Air Force One that “radical anarchists were trying to get into the mayor’s house,” referring to a protest outside Antaramian’s house that Trump had watched on television. “I saw last night where these radical anarchists were trying to get into the mayor’s house and lots of bad things were happening to this poor, stupid, very foolish mayor,” Trump said.
