Kim Petras and Sam Smith have made LGBTQ+ history with their hit single Unholy. Back in August, the two beloved talents teased fans with their infectious pop anthem on TikTok.

After going viral on the platform, the two music heavyweights officially released the record on 22 September to critical acclaim.

In the weeks following its release, the song reached both the number three and number two spots on the Billboard Hot 100. However on 24 October, the two music talents and their song finally reached the number-one spot on the coveted chart.

The landmark achievement now makes Petras the first openly trans artist to obtain a Billboard number one single. Smith has also become the first openly non-binary solo artist to reach the top spot as well.
