Meat Loaf was adored by many following his incredibly successful stint in music, but it seems the Royal Family were not as keen. The singer has met multiple famous faces over the years, but his most memorable meeting was likely to be an altercation with Prince Andrew. In 1987, a charity version of It's A Knockout, titled It's a Royal Knockout, took place after being organised by Prince Edwards and multiple other royals. Many celebrities, including Meat Loaf, attended, which is where he had an altercation with Prince Andrew himself, which resulted in him believing that Queen Elizabeth II "hates" him.Years later, Meat Loaf recalled the incident to The Guardian as he said: "Oh, the Queen hates me," as he reflected on It's a Royal Knockout."He added: "It was great fun.
I had a great time. Fergie wasn't exactly flirting with me, but she was paying attention to me, and I think Andrew got a little - I could be wrong, I'm just reading into this - I think he got a little jealous..."Anyway, he tried to push me in the water.
He tried to push me in the moat."So I turned around and I grabbed him and he goes, 'You can't touch me. I'm royal.' I said, 'Well you try to push me in the moat, Jack, I don't give a s**t who you are, you're going in the moat."Luckily, nobody ended up in the moat and the altercation soon fizzled out, but it certainly became a permanent stamp on people's brains in the years that followed.Meat Loaf remained an extremely popular singer and actor over the years and continued to sell out his shows.Following a career that spanned six decades, Meat Loaf sadly died aged 74, beside his wife Deborah on January 20, 2022.
