Netflix’s hit LGBTQ+ series Warrior Nun has been cancelled after two seasons. The fantasy-drama, which is based on the comic book Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn, follows 19-year-old Ava Silva, who wakes up as a member of the ancient Order of the Cruciform Sword.
As part of her newfound membership, she is tasked with fighting demons and the “powerful forces” that represent both heaven and hell who want to find and control her.
Upon its release in 2020, the series received universal acclaim from critics and audiences – which resulted in the second season receiving 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
While the show has been praised for its terrific writing and dynamic storytelling, queer viewers have lauded the series for its LGBTQ+ representation and the romantic will they, won’t they relationship between Ava and Sister Beatrice.
