Meet Mad Eye Moody, a German shepherd mix named after a wizard in the Harry Potter series, he can cast a spell on any shepherd lover. Unfortunately, Mad Eye had to have one of his eyes removed in emergency surgery after being taken in by the SPCA of Texas. But he has since gotten past that setback and is ready to live a happy, healthy life. He is just over 3 years old and weighs in at 67 pounds. He’s got that classic black-over-tan shepherd coat, and while he is super energetic, he is a well-behaved boy. He knows some basic commands and is eager and able to learn a lot more. Mad Eye Moody is housed at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center, so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.

A Nebraska school district has agreed to restart a school newspaper at Grand Island Northwest High School after it had dissolved the paper following a publication of an LGBTQ-themed issue over the summer.The teacher that had previously advised the student paper, the Northwest Viking Saga, said the publication would return this spring in digital form, the Associated Press reports.However, local rights groups say that isn’t enough.The former advisor, Kirsten Gilliland, said the role of advising the paper as well as teaching journalism at the school had been given to another teacher.The issue in question was the June 2022 year-end edition. It featured an article titled “Pride and Prejudice: LGBTQIA+,” which discussed the history of Pride Month and the origins of homophobia.

They were legally recognized as the girl’s parents.The judge said that forcing one of them to be labeled “father” didn’t make sense, according to Reuters.While the decision came in September, it was only recently publicized by the LGBTQ+ rights group Famiglie Arcobaleno (Rainbow Families).The news wire notes that this ruling applies to only this case."Until the law is changed, it is up to the initiative of individuals" to challenge the ID requirements, Egizia Mondini, a spokeswoman for Famiglie Arcobaleno said, Reuters reports.It’s a ruling that goes against Italy’s new right-wing government.

Lesbian basketball champion Brittney Griner has been sent to a Russian penal colony, according to her lawyers and agent.It comes a little over a week after her lawyers shared that her transfer from a detention center in Iksha to a penal colony had commenced. She’s been sent to a camp in the Western part of the country called Mordovia, which is about a seven-hour drive by car from Moscow.“We can confirm that Brittney began serving her sentence at IK-2 in Mordovia,” Griner’s legal team said in a statement to The Advocate.

A gay couple suing a Pasadena fertility clinic following the birth of a female child when they had requested two baby boys had portions of their lawsuit tossed by a judge in Los Angeles on Monday.According to a report from local news radio KNX, plaintiffs Albert and Anthony Saniger filed a lawsuit in July against the Huntington Reproductive Center Medical Group (also known referred to as HRC) and Dr. Bradford Kolb claiming negligence, breach of contract, and malpractice after the clinic implanted a female embryo into the birth mother when the couple had specifically requested two male babies.In her ruling, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Teresa Beaudet dismissed the claim of negligence and additionally ruled the plaintiffs must strengthen their breach of contract cause of action for it to remain part of the lawsuit.

A decade and a half of research by the Pleasure Project has proven that social campaigns aiming to promote safer sex practices and HIV prevention are much more effective when they focus on sexual pleasure rather than “danger and disease,” according to a recent article by The New York Times.In partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the small nongovernmental organization called the Pleasure Project reviewed the results of safer-sex trials and experiments over the past 15 years. After assessing more than 7,000 safe sex campaigns on their treatment of pleasure, Pleasure Project recently published the peer-reviewed findings in the journal PLOS One.“Sexual health education and services have traditionally promoted safer sex practices by focusing on risk reduction and preventing disease, without acknowledging how safer sex can also promote intimacy, pleasure, consent and well-being,” said Lianne Gonsalves, co-author of the report and a sexual health researcher epidemiologist at WHO.
