Nguyen has passed the leadership baton to new chair Howard F. Chan. Nguyen, a gay man and attorney also known by his drag persona Juicy Liu, had led GAPA since 2017.Chan, a venture fund strategic consultant, took over in January just as news broke that the parents of Jaxon Sales, a gay 20-year-old who died March 2, 2020 in a Rincon Hill apartment, were demanding San Francisco public safety officials reopen their investigation into the circumstances of his death.
GAPA helped promote their pleas and organized a rally last month in front of City Hall to draw more public attention to the issue."The event is very sad, but I think that is why we are here.
