In a historic first for an address to a joint session of the Congress by an American President, President Joe Biden called for the passage of the Equality Act and even gave a shout-out to transgender Americans. “I also hope Congress can get to my desk the Equality Act to protect the rights of LGBTQ Americans,” Biden said during his address.
