Chris Van Dusen is opening up about whether Benedict Bridgerton, the second son in the title family on Bridgerton, is gay.
The showrunner of the popular Netflix series spoke to TV Line about the debate and revealed that the hints dropped in the first season were never about his sexuality at all. Click inside to read more… In season one, Benedict, played by Luke Thompson, appeared to get close to Henry Granville, a fellow artist who invites him to participate in art classes at his studio.
Now, in season two, Benedict was seen pursuing Tessa, a fellow art school classmate. “I’ve seen a lot of discussion about Benedict’s sexuality in Season 1,” Chris shared with the outlet. “[However] the storyline [of him befriending] Henry was really about tolerance in a really intolerant time, and showing Benedict in that world.
I love the story in Season 1 and would love to continue it into the future.” Chris does add that as the seasons progress, Benedict’s love story might also include the character’s “sexuality will become fluid.
