The new adult panto, written by Jodie Prenger and Neil Hurst, has opened at London’s Turbine Theatre. We’ll get this out of the way first – even though we’ve been living like this for a while now, the current theatrical experience still feels very strange.
With temperature checks on arrival, hand sanitiser everywhere and mandatory mask wearing, it all feels very clinical – not the sort of venue people go to have a laugh with friends.
Upon entering the auditorium it all looks even stranger – every other row of seats has been removed, and perspex screens have been erected around the remaining chairs to create small bubbles of seating.
