Maren Morris’ “lunatic” t-shirt line has raised over $100,000 for trans organisations in light of her feud with Brittany Aldean and Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
Back in August, The Middle singer and fellow country star Cassadee Pope called out Aldean – a beauty influencer and wife of singer Jason Aldean – for making transphobic comments on Instagram. “You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging,” Pope wrote via Twitter. “But instead, here we are, hearing someone compare their “tomboy phase” to someone wanting to transition.
Real nice.” Morris echoed similar sentiments in her own tweet writing: “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.” Unfortunately for Morris, her tweet was met with a response from Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who called out the singer during his nightly show.
While interviewing Aldean about the aforementioned interaction, Carlson called Morris a “lunatic” and a “fake country music singer.” However, instead of responding directly to Carlson’s unwarranted statement, the Make You Say singer used his comments to help give back to the trans community.
