Nicolas Cage is to star as gay zookeeper Joe Exotic in a new TV series based on the Tiger King story. The Netflix series Tiger King has made Joe Exotic a household name.

It has attracted more than 64 million viewers since it came out in March. It follows the gun-toting, polyamorous redneck Exotic as he fights to save his roadside big cat animal park.

However it’s not just the animals who add the drama. Joe has two husbands, and a vast range of colorful, crazy and criminal friends and foes.
