A vengeful man who stabbed his own dad 21 times after a lifetime of abuse and bullying at his hands has been jailed for two years and eight months.
Kristian Devaney was arrested by police at the scene after he carried out the frenzied attack on his dad on September 17 last year.
When officers cuffed the 28-year-old he was heard asking one of the policemen: “Is he dead or alive? I hope he’s dead”. Devaney's father incredibly survived the vicious assault but has suffered permanent scarring to parts of his body as a result of the incident.
However, this week at Derby Crown Court the father refused to provide a victim statement but instead conveyed through his lawyer that he is “pleased his son has accepted” he carried out the savage stabbing.
