When a second man – “London Patient” Adam Castillejo – showed similar results eleven years later after a bone marrow transplant for lymphoma, it demonstrated that Brown’s case was not a one-off.Brown himself decided to go public in 2010 and gave interviews about his treatment and recovery.

He said at the time, “I didn’t want to be the only person cured, I wanted to do what I could to make [a cure] possible. My first step was releasing my name and image to the public.”Sadly, after several years of remission, Brown’s cancer returned earlier this year.
