Trans man loses fight to be called father on child’s birth certificate

metro.co.uk

A trans man has lost a Court of Appeal challenge against being registered ‘mother’ on his child’s birth certificate. Freddy McConnell has been fighting to be called ‘father’ or ‘parent’ in a lengthy legal battle, arguing that to force him to be named otherwise is a breach of his human right to respect for private and family life.

The multimedia journalist was able to get pregnant and give birth to the child – named as YY – biologically, legally becoming a man after the child’s birth.
