Haynes also recounts losing sight in one eye, almost rupturing a kidney, being put on an involuntary psychiatric hold, and facing out-of-control substance abuse all before the age of 30 — and so much more in between.
Over the weekend, Haynes offered fans a sneak peek at the book with a live reading of its prologue on his Instagram. A nervous yet excited Haynes warned readers that they were in for a profoundly emotional and sad story, but one he needed to share with the world.
Diving into the reading, he promised that the prologue is a bit lighter than what follows.In the prologue, Haynes recounts a drive he took out of the San Fernando, past places that call up powerful memories and profound moments in his life.
