A massive 71% of American LGBT+ youth deeply distrust the police with only 8% of black LGBT+ youth ‘strongly agreeing’ that the police were in their neighborhood to protect them.

Meanwhile COVID-19 has taken a huge toll on youth mental health. In particular, three quarters of both transgender and non-binary youth (75%) and black LGBT+ young people (74%) feel more lonely than at the start of COVID-19.

Those are some of the major findings of the latest research by LGBT+ youth suicide prevention organization The Trevor Project.
