Social media personality Benito Skinner is set to star in a new LGBTQ+ TV show for Prime Video. Over the last six years, the GAY TIMES cover star – also known as Benny Drama – has used his platform to make millions laugh with his pop culture parodies, short-form comedy skits, and hilarious original characters.

With his social media takeover showing no signs of slowing down, Skinner has now set his sights on the TV world with his upcoming series, Overcompensating.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the beloved social media personality has signed on to executive produce, write and star in the coming-of-age TV show.

Inspired by the comedian’s own life, the A24-produced series is set to follow Idaho football player Benny and his hilarious yet tumultuous coming out journey.  “[Overcompensating] follows Idaho football player Benny as he struggles to accept his sexuality in college, finding himself overcompensating as he tries to convince himself of something he’s not,” the official logline reads. “Poignant, personal, and deeply funny, this ensemble comedy explores the experiences we all have in figuring ourselves out – the various personalities we try out along the way, and the journey to find the people who accept us just as we are.” Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby Productions and pop star Charli XCX are also set to executive produce the series, with the latter handling the show’s music.
