Cara Delevingne: ‘Shame of being a gay woman made me suicidal’

Cara Delevingne has revealed she became suicidal as she struggled to come to terms with her sexuality and being a gay woman.

The model and actress said she grew up feeling ‘disgusted’ by the idea of having a same-sex partner, and a side to her still wishes she ‘could just be straight’.

Cara, 28, pictured, who has dated female stars including singer St Vincent and actress Ashley Benson, also put the ‘massive depression’ she suffered down to shame she felt about her sexuality.

Speaking to Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goop podcast, she said: ‘I grew up in an old-fashioned household. I didn’t know anyone who was gay. ‘The idea of being same-sex [partners], I was disgusted by that in myself.
